Summer PE dates 2019

Physical Education: This section provides an opportunity for students to participate in individual, lifetime, and team sports in an effort to learn and increase movement and skills, develop good sportsmanship and teamwork, and increase knowledge and appreciation of the sports in which they participate.

Each unit of instruction provides not only participation but safety procedures, brief histories and rules. Appreciation and joy of movement, physical activity, and self-discipline, as well as the importance of using leisure time wisely are emphasized. The activities for this year include: softball, basketball, pickle ball, and archery. Students are required to attend 12 on-campus sessions. 

Health Education: This section strives to expose students to a wide variety of health and wellness topics. The material is selected to provide information that is both current and useful to the well-educated young adult. The instructor will use posted handouts, recorded lectures, internet research and individual projects.

Requirements: All requirements must be met and all assignments must be completed by the last day of assigned session week. Assignments will be posted on Moodle and emailed to each student. Assignments will be turned in via email to the session instructor. Students will have six health assignments to be completed off campus. 

There is an extra fee applied to students who enroll in this course. Each session of summer PE has an enrollment limit. Session availability is first come, first served. Once the session is filled, it will close on Shop SJA. Session dates and times are sent to parents and students in an email after course selections are due. Students may not schedule an unstructured period or any half-credit electives during the school year following the summer session.
